What comes to mind when I say that Q4 is here?

Is it excitement and motivation to crush the rest of the year, or stress and anxiety just thinking about everything that you need to squeeze in before the holidays?

Or maybe a combination?

It is easy to get caught up in the chaos, but what if I told you there's a chance to do something different this year?

To not just survive Q4 but thrive in it.

In this episode, we're diving deep into the heart of Q4 – that busy, bustling time of year when high-achieving women leaders like you tend to speed up, juggling countless responsibilities just to crash-land into the Christmas holiday.

But also, give you tools and strategies for counteracting that stress, so you can find balance and brilliance instead.

The Hustle and Bustle of Q4

We all know how it goes.

As Q4 rolls in, our schedules become jam-packed, and the stress levels tend to rise.

It's like a rat race against time to accomplish everything before the year's end.

The demands at work become more intense, and when we add in the holiday season, it can feel like you’re a squirrel on speed, running faster and faster.

It's no wonder if you find yourself overwhelmed, trying to balance it all.

But the thing is, that when your stress goes up too much, your intelligence goes down.

Being in survival mode makes it harder to problem-solve, plan, and execute, which is exactly what you need to smash your days and get the most important things done.

Last episode, I spoke about the ways we all self-sabotage. And that’s exactly what happens when we are too stressed: the survival part of the brain gets activated and the saboteurs kick in.

When we are driven by the saboteurs, we are not operating at our full capacity, and it’s also exhausting.

It’s so common to crashland when the holidays come, and I’m sure that you much rather would want to spend your time off being present with loved ones and feeling happy with your accomplishments than being a wreck on the sofa.

So how can you counteract the chaos and take back control?

Here are six strategies to set yourself up for success:

  1. Ask yourself these two questions: Who do you want to be? And now do you want to feel by Christmas? This is a great question to ask yourself, that will remind you of your priorities. Maybe you want to feel present, calm, and proud of yourself and your accomplishments. So what will you do differently during this quarter to become that person and to feel that way? Reminding ourselves of who we want to be is such a strong motivator to make changes.

  2. Implement supporting habits: What habits do you need to tweak or implement to make this come true? Both your identity and health are a sum of your habits, so starting there is a great thing. And if you want to dig deeper into habit formation, go back to episode 11.

  3. Slow down to speed up: This is all about prioritizing rest, recovery and self-care. And remember, self-care is not selfish. It's essential. Make sure you're taking time for yourself, even if it's just a few minutes a day.

  4. Delegate and Collaborate: Think about what you can delegate, both at home and at work. It's okay to ask for help or work together with your team to meet those year-end goals. Maybe you can even support your team members' growth by delegating tasks to them?

  5. Say No and Set Boundaries: Establish clear boundaries to protect your time and energy. This includes saying "no" when necessary and setting realistic expectations. Episode 10 is all about this.

  6. Get support: I know that you are fully capable of so many things. And I also know that you are running fast, trusting yourself to figure everything out. But, like the good old quote says; “Asking for help is not giving up, it’s refusing to give up”.

With support, you can achieve amazing results that are not possible by yourself and see things that you are not aware of.

That’s the beauty of coaching and mentoring.
