Ep 41: It’s Your Turn: How to Empower Yourself Through Self-Investment

Episode show notes:

I’m going to say something bold now, but with a lot of love.

You have only scratched the surface of your own potential.

And this is true for all of us.

When we peel off the layers of stress, exhaustion, anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, controlling, self-doubt, and a whole lot of limiting beliefs and stories - MAGIC happens.

I also see incredible shifts and results happening with my clients every day.

They recognize things within themselves that they had no idea existed and find strength and confidence way beyond their imagination.

And I know what you are capable of.

So what would be possible for YOU, if you peeled off a bunch of things, stories, and layers that you didn’t need?

Let’s talk about that, and why investing in yourself is one of the most empowering things you can do.

I also share the amazing results of one of my clients who just completed her program.

Hi ladies,

Redefining Empowerment

Let’s start by talking a bit about empowerment.

What comes to mind when you hear that word?

For many of us, it’s often associated with helping others. And that’s beautiful – as leaders, that’s what you do a lot of the time.

But today, I want to challenge that definition.

Empowerment is also about the way you treat yourself, the way you invest in your own growth.

I know it’s easy to put yourself last.

It feels like there’s never enough time, and when you’re a high-achiever, it’s easy to think that personal development is a luxury you can’t afford.

But here’s the truth – investing in yourself is one of the most strategic decisions you can make.

Whether it’s learning new skills, deepening self-awareness, or even just giving yourself permission to rest, empowerment begins with you.

In this episode, I will talk a bit about personal and professional growth and development and how it will benefit you, and share a client story.

—-

So first, personal development. What does it even mean?

It is not fluffy.

It’s actually super concrete.

Personal development is about knowing yourself better – understanding your triggers, building resilience, and creating practices that boost your energy.

For example, maybe it’s as simple as starting your day with a few minutes of reflection or a morning walk to clear your mind.

How often do you take time to reflect on your emotional state, acknowledge your feelings, and truly check in with yourself?

Personal development could be as simple as learning to set better boundaries, practicing self-compassion, or letting go of perfectionism.

It’s about doing the inner work that helps you stay grounded and aligned with who you truly are.

And this will make an enormous difference, both in your personal and professional life.

—-

And then over to professional development.

This might seem more tangible. Like connected to actual skills that are relevant to your job.

We live in a fast-paced world, and we have to keep growing to stay relevant.

But here’s the thing – growth isn’t just about climbing the ladder.

It’s also about expanding your mindset, refining your skills & strengths, and taking yourself to new levels.

Ways of doing this can be joining a mastermind, hiring a coach, taking new courses that stretch you outside of your comfort zone?

Investing in professional development isn’t about being the best at everything.

It’s about showing up as the best version of yourself – confident, knowledgeable, and equipped with the skills you need.

So here you can ask yourself;

“What’s one area I’ve been neglecting professionally?”

Is it leadership skills, public speaking, or even networking?

These investments don’t just help you become better at your job – they help you feel empowered, capable, and in control of your future.

Now, I want to share a client story to make this tangible for you.

Last week, I had the final session with one of my clients.

We can call her Anna.

I love to summarize the program together with my clients in a certain way, talking about what shifts my clients are experiencing, what they are taking away, concrete results and milestones, which tools they now have in their toolbox, which new beliefs and reminders to hold on to etc.

The majority of my clients are mindblown themselves when they reflect on how far they have come and where they were when we started working together.

This is what I mean when I say that it is empowering to invest in yourself.

Because THEY have done the work, not me.

But it all started with THEM making a decision that it was their time now, and that they wanted a shift.

I usually say, that the moment you decide to jump on the program, you just got your money back.

Because this is the first breakthrough moment you need.

To tell yourself that you matter, that your needs, wishes and dreams matter.

That you want something else, and that you are worthy of getting it.

Maybe for the first time in your life.

And with this particular client, I remember she saying the second session, that I’m already noticing something shifting inside of me.

And I said, I know, I can see that too.

And this is freaking powerful.

When you tell yourself and universe that it’s your turn now.

Ok so back to my client’s results.

When we started working together she was in a job that she was deeply unhappy in. She was great at what she was doing but felt so empty and unfulfilled. The values weren’t aligned and this had affected her mental health a lot.

Her confidence was low and self-esteem too and she felt like a failure. She had forgot what her strenghts were and felt sad and unmotivated. She felt a lot of fear what other people thought of her and had trouble saying no and setting boundaries.

People-pleasing and perfectionism was running her life, also resulting in procrastinating what was really important to her. She was afraid she would fall back into exhaustion, a place where she had been before and did not want to go back to.

And she wanted to be a role model to her kids, which she did not feel like she was at all, staying in a job that she truly disliked.

And this is a woman who normally is such a joy to be around, she is incredibly social, very talented, energetic, positive, smart and an overall badass person. She’s a strong project manager and has a talent for people, communication and creativity.

But she was just in a bad place and had been for quite some time.

I loved working with her and was actually sad that our time together was over for now, but soo happy for where she is now.

So last week when we were summarizing the milestones and results this is the list she came up with:

  • I quit my job that made me feel like shit and this is such a win

  • I recognize my strengths and qualities and feel proud of them.

  • I also realize that my unique qualities actually are my superpowers and I won’t hide that anymore, which I used to do.

  • I have stronger self-confidence and I’m now applying for jobs at my own level, and not only where I’m overqualified

  • I am more present, both at home and with my group of friends and more active, taking initiatives

  • I’m happier, calmer and more harmonious inside, much more grounded in myself

  • I have self-awareness and insight into my habit patterns, and the ability to break them

  • I have a renewed belief in myself and stand up for myself and my needs

  • I have better self-esteem

  • I’m more content with my choices

  • I’m more enthusiastic about doing things

  • I’m hopeful about the future and excited for what’s to come

And she started by saying that her husband sent his greetings and sincere thank you as this was our last session together.

I asked why, and what change is he was experiencing.

She said; a lot. And the main thing was that he had gotten his happy, confident wife back.

Now, over to you.

I know how much time you spend on empowering and caring for others, your friends, camily, team and community.

But how much of that time do you spend on yourself?

If you are like most women, not a lot.

You might even feel guilty for just considering it.

But this is actually a mind-trap.

You will have MORE energy to give to others, to put into work and the projects you love, the people you love.

Here are some questions to reflect on;

What would be different in your life if you got in control of your health and happiness?

Got in contact with your feelings?

Increased your mental energy?

How would your team and colleagues be affected if you radiated with positive energy and confidence?

How would your ability to be presence and energetic increase if your sleep improved?

Increased the trust and belief in yourself?

Got clear about what YOU want and need, and not just everyone else?

Had the guts to say no and set boundaries to protect yourself and your energy?

Learned to listen inwards and trust yourself?

These are some of the results my clients are experiencing after working with me.

Simple Actions to Start Today

So, what are some simple ways you can start investing in yourself today?

Here are a few ideas:

1. Set aside time for reflection

Whether it’s 10 minutes in the morning or before bed, check in with yourself.

2. Learn something new

Sign up for a short course or read a book on a topic that excites you.

3. Find a mentor or coach

Sometimes having someone guide you through your growth can be the most valuable investment.

4. Celebrate your small wins

Empowerment isn’t just about big achievements; it’s about recognizing the small steps you take every day.

Remember, investing in yourself doesn’t have to be a big thing.

It can be small, consistent actions that remind you of your worth and potential.

Conclusion

So, here’s my challenge for you today: Take one small step to invest in yourself. It could be as simple as reading a book or scheduling time for reflection, but do something that honors your growth and empowers you from within.

Because when you grow, you don’t just change your life – you change the lives of everyone around you.

And if you are curious about getting the same results as my clients, just send me a DM or email and I will get back to you with a link to book a discovery call.

In this call we will get clear on where you are now and where you would like to be, and I will tell you about my program.

As leaders, the more empowered you are, the more you can empower others.

Take care of yourself, and go be a badass!
